My understanding is “neighbor” is mostly a mistranslation. It’s really referring to people within your tribe. Don’t fuck with people who are in your group basically, in order to keep the peace. Outsiders are fair game.

QBitTorrent has a search built in. You have to add scripts for each torrent host, but once you add a bunch it makes it very easy to just search through that and find what you want. Finding a free stream you have to go through a bunch of shady sites trying to find one that works and is half decent quality.

I agree with both of you. They were terrorists by the definition we typically use. However, that word was created by the ruling class to easily turn people against a perceived threat. They usually use the same tools as the state. Why don’t states get called terrorists when using fear and force for political gain? The word terrorism is not useful. It is another tool of the ruling class to control things.

I can see the argument of using the word and saying that it can be good. That what DS9 did. I would prefer the word to stop being used. I think it’s best at the moment to use the word, say it can be good, and then also say why the word is a tool of control and should be abandoned.

I’d say it deserves a perfectly mediocre 5. Everything it does is better in other games, and the one thing it’s supposed to do (exploration) is better in their other games. I live sci-fi so I was willing to overlook a lot of issues, but I think the biggest letdown is that the sci-fi stories it tells are boring as hell and don’t actually make use of the genre. If they really wanted to make a sci-fi game they should have been ready to tell interesting sci-fi stories. Instead they gave up all the strengths of their other games to tell uninteresting stories.

Yeah, but having the games in competition would force then to try to win players to their side over the alternative, for both of the games. It would have been nice to have an option when playing this genre.

While true, I think Paradox does it better than Maxis. First, you almost always get some stuff for free. Second, it’s usually more substantial (or it’s art packs or whatever, which you don’t need but are fairly cheap). Would this game do it well? Who knows. Just having them competition would force them and Maxis to do better though.

All this said, I pirate most of the DLCs for Paradox games. I’ll buy the first few near release, but when I want to revisit a game after a few years, likely just for one playthrough or less, I don’t feel like spending $100+ to catch up, and I’d like to see where the new content went. I’ve given them plenty of money where I feel no moral issue with doing so.

If you’re looking for a new home, I’ve enjoyed Lemmy.zip. I think it’s on the smaller side, but I prefer that to everyone being on a few instances.

Sadly, no one knows the plot of Caprica because we’re the only two people in the world who watched it. It’s impressive how well BSG was received and is remembered and most people don’t even know Caprica exists.

That’s why The Hunger Games was successful I believe. They treated the audience not as children, but as adults who can consider complex ideas. They just want to read about people their age. Most YA considers their audience as little more than hormone filled idiots.

And when none of that works and people quit, it isn’t because you treated them horribly and it’s your fault, it’s because people just don’t want to work anymore.

I’m sorry to hear about your situation. It sucks the some systems aren’t supported. It’s very rare, but I guess you may be in that small group. I’d bet some people could help you make it work, but it may require extra effort. The great thing about Linux is you can make almost anything work if you put in the effort, but if the tools aren’t already made that’d mean doing it yourself, which probably isn’t an option.

I’m not trying to say Linux is right for you, but Windows does not care about you either. They are leaving everyone behind if they don’t follow along. I wish you good luck and good health!
