Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•New York real estate titan likens the phrase ‘tax the rich’ to racial slursEnglish
4·12 days agoOkay, here’s the politically correct version then:
Take a portion of the income and wealth of people of wealth they don’t plan on investing in a short period of time (not paid out as wages, etc.).

101·14 days agoYeah, and get ready for those big platforms selectively leaking user data, sometimes with falsified stuff. Get ready for union leaders suddenly being outed for being into weird shit (often literally), all while they’re clueless and disgusted, as part of online smear campaigns. Always said that “cancel culture”/purity testing is a dangerous weapon that can be astroturfed by the enemy, and there’s already some precedent for that (most recently the whole Hasan dog thing). Even some leftists are trying really hard to cancel some “annoying” people among them.

They have private repos, they’re paid though.

6·15 days agoLLMs cannot do anything importing a library or a google search couldn’t already do better.
Use Codeberg! Mostly up, immediately filters AI grifters, and isn’t tied to Micro$lop.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•AI-assisted moderation in the fediverse is happening. Now what?English
181·15 days agoI think LLMs could be useful tools for moderation, you might even can get away with smaller models for it, but I don’t think people should be outsourcing them to big corpos, due to ability to manipulate the models.

18·15 days agoIn Hungary, we have a term “impossibilization”, used to describe laws that are not technically banning things, but making them near impossible to do. The christofascists of the US want to ban porn without actually banning porn, because that pesky constitution doesn’t allow it yet.

11·21 days ago- Better than not having an offline copy.
- Write-only, ransomware cannot delete/encrypt it.
- Drives are still cheap.
Downside is having techbros talk you about laser rot, how internal drives are obstructing the optimal airflow in GAMING PC cases, and how Gabe Newell is based and stuff.

25·21 days agoAlways keep offline backup copies of your important data regardless of using AI slop to look over it! No, I don’t care that “optical media is obsolete and e-waste!”, or that “tapes are a 100 year old obsolete technology compared to cheap SSDs from TEMU!”.

Well, a core of FOSS. Unfortunately, there are many jerkasses within the FOSS community, see the Xlibre developer.
Scriptjunkie
With that name, I guess he’s a JS dev trying to rebrand as a kernel vibecoder.
If it was UVEPROM, otherwise you needed to replace the ROM. At least fuse-based ones don’t suffer from forgetting the data on being powered off.
Yes, but first often you’ll need to dump the flash ROM, since some BIOS requires signing (at least on some OEM boards and laptops).

Great, can I now buy RAM, SSDs, and HDDs on a cheaper price?
