When I look at some generic instance’s unfiltered feed all I see is posts about USA/Trump. I can see how this might deter a lot of Europeans who are looking for alternatives to Reddit.
Should be most of the Lemmy instances, but it’s missing the 2k monthly active users on PieFed.
that quality seems to keep getting better and better
It doesn’t. It’s the same people who keep posting the same lame memes as always.
I’m presented the same shit over and over again.
Do you sort by active? Use hot or scaled instead.

Star Trek Social Club@startrek.website•Is there desire for Capt. Una spin-off?English
2·6 days agoIt doesn’t have to be different, but if it isn’t why would Paramount be interested in making it? TNG and DS9 overlapped and were different, same with DS9 and VOY. But TNG and VOY were also very different. I suppose if someone would come up with a cool idea for a Una spin-off that is not just a direct continuation of SNW there might be a chance. Personally I’d be more interested in something set after TNG/Lower Decks to get away from the TOS era, and also stay away from the DIS 32nd century stuff.

Games@lemmy.world•New Life is Strange Game Spotted, And Yes, This One Will Finally Bring Back ChloeEnglish
1·7 days agoNo, haven’t read them, but I know that both decisions are canon. Life is Strange 2 already dealt with it. But I think including Chloe as a character in a game in some meaningful way that will make fans happy while respecting that both options are canon is harder than whatever the comics did. I doubt Deck Nine is capable of properly handling this.
spoiler
My theory what they will do: They will retcon the two timelines from Double Exposure into one timeline in which Chloe is dead and one in which Chloe is alive, just like with Safi. As the timelines are merged into one at the end of Double Exposure Chloe is alive again even if you chose the ending in which she died. That probably also means Arcadia Bay is no longer destroyed, there are rumors that Max might return there.

Games@lemmy.world•New Life is Strange Game Spotted, And Yes, This One Will Finally Bring Back ChloeEnglish
10·7 days agoOh, looks like the rumors were true. I’m not sure I want Chloe back. It could’ve been handled a little better in Double Exposure, but she couldn’t ever really be an integral part of the game, not unless the developers decided which decision in the original Life is Strange is canon. I doubt that the fans that only care about Max + Chloe are ever going to be satisfied with whatever decision the developers take. Also fuck Deck Nine.

Technology@lemmy.world•We own the hardware, but not the experience anymore — Big Tech keeps building smarter, more connected devices, but the user experience feels more intrusive, more confusing, and less humanEnglish
41·17 days agoI don’t really see that happen. It would mean developers (or crappy AI code generators) would have to write efficient code for the low-powered client devices. The web is basically already other people’s computers and look how memory hungry browsers are, or maybe more specifically the websites/apps that run in the browsers.

It’s not really static. It’s digital, the transmission scheme has structure. It’s only the transmitted data that is encrypted, but you’d have to first unpack the transmission to get to the data.
