Disappointed that Detmer and Owo don’t seem to be in this season; they weren’t listed in the cast in this article or another one I read. I know Tig Notaro was always a guest, and she wasn’t mentioned, but I really hope Reno shows up for a least an episode or two. She’s my spirit character.
And what is up with the photoshopping on Mary Wiseman in the promo
photoposter? It doesn’t even look like her. Looks more like Jennifer Tilly than Sylvia. She looks like herself in the other photo in the article, but the top image looks shopped to all get out. It’s so rare to see promotional posters these days that are actual cast photos. I miss those.
Reno is the best. I love Tig Notaro’s dry-ass sarcasm.
Emily Coutts (Detmer) and Oyin Oladego (Owo) are never listed with the main cast characters. They and others like Patrick Kwok-Choon (Gen Rhys) are credited in the ‘also starring’ list in the post credits not in the main titles.
No reason not to believe Emily won’t be back. Oyin was in production as the lead in an independent feature last year so there may have been a scheduling issue as there was for Ronnie Rowe Jr (Bryce) when he was in production for his lead role in BET+ Series ‘The Porter’ during production of Discovery season 4.
Most of these Canadian actors filling in the bridge crew work on other Canadian projects which seem to be more crucial for advancing their careers even if working on Discovery was a regular income.
Ah, good to know. Definitely won’t give up hope then. I thought they were both promoted to regulars / opening credits a while back.

This is the first we’re hearing of a panel at SXSW, in addition to the screening there:
The hit Paramount+ Original Series STAR TREK: DISCOVERY prepares to embark on its fifth and final season this April 2024. Since its debut in 2017, DISCOVERY has earned widespread acclaim for its dedication to diversity and for redefining the Star Trek franchise for a new generation. The show’s unique strength lies not only in its captivating narrative and award-winning world-building but also in the groundbreaking representation it brings to the forefront. As the lead of the series, Sonequa Martin-Green made history as the first Black woman to helm a Star Trek series and last season broke additional barriers as she became the Captain of the series’ main starship, the U.S.S. Discovery. The show boasts an ethos of inclusivity, also blazing trails in LGBTQIA+ representation in sci-fi storytelling and TV in general, featuring the first on-screen intergalactic same-sex couple as well as multi-dimensional non-binary and trans characters. This final season will see our beloved crew embarking on a new adventure and celebrate the show’s bold storytelling over its past four seasons as it continues to honor Star Trek’s legacy of “infinite diversity in infinite combinations.”
Alex Kurtzman, Michelle Paradise, aSonequa Martin-Green, Doug Jones, Wilson Cruz, David Ajala and Blu del Barrio are scheduled to participate.
Maybe fifth time’s a charm…
