Abraham Lincoln also used the phrase “the better angels of our nature” in his first inaugural address in 1861, in a plea to avoid civil war. EDIT: I also don’t see the spelling mistake that OP is talking about.

It’s supposed to be angels. Abraham Lincoln also used the phrase “the better angels of our nature” in his first inaugural address in 1861, in a plea to avoid civil war.
