Nah, I’ve used my parents’ induction hob and it’s ridiculously fast to boil liquids. A half pint of milk was boiling over in 20s. Gas stoves can’t compete.

Tl;Dr?
Good to know, but unlikely to change my habits significantly.
I think you’re underselling Darktable somewhat. Being able to use drawn and parametric masks for basically all the tools, and the granularity at which you can adjust the variables across the entire image makes it incredibly powerful for non-destructive editing of photos. There are also numerous filters and tools which can be used artistically.
But yes, for “photo-shopping” as opposed to photo editing you probably will want GIMP as well.
Nothing too surprising, but nice nonetheless. Cool
What kind of possibilities?
Mildly?
I’m going to assume they’re not British…
Why are you perpetuating such a shite, tired prejudice?
There are several factors driving this decline, including labor shortages due to Brexit, rising operational costs, and burdensome bureaucracy. While the meat industry may lament these closures, animal advocates should view them as a victory for compassion and ethical consumption. Smaller, independent slaughterhouses are disappearing at a rapid rate, replaced by larger, industrialized facilities that prioritize efficiency over animal welfare.
The closure of these smaller abattoirs is significant because they often had more humane practices and closer connections to the local farming community. In contrast, the remaining mega-slaughterhouses treat animals as mere commodities, subjecting them to inhumane conditions and suffering on an industrial scale. By reducing the number of these facilities, we are taking an important step towards a more ethical and sustainable food system.
So without a concomitant reduction in meat production this sounds like a bad thing? More animals being slaughtered in worse conditions.
Better than bitcoin I suppose
Sounds like a nice life? I don’t have much idea what beet farming is like…
Farming what though?
If you have a bit of time and are keen to improve then I can recommend watching Jorbs (YouTube or Twitch). He plays StS a lot and explains his decision making process. He’s also a good person.
Small mention for Darktable as an alternative to Lightroom.
It reads very normally for a minor interest story in the UK.
Fuck, just see anything that the IDF ghouls are pumping out at the moment.
I think I’ve heard “deeply” being used that way for a good few years now. Might have been making its way round for a while!
With the recent publicity of LLM generated papers, would there be any strength of this platform to reject garbage science?
Yep. It’s very cool, but takes a little getting used to at first!
