Let me guess. You’re an American?
In Europe we have rules, regulations and consumer protections because our respective countries and the collective union actually give a shit about the people that live here.

Oh okey, then I am with you! I have an integrated GPU in my processor that have been tinkering with but for my usecase it’s not enough. Ideally would I need two external GPUs in my system so I can game on both Windows and Linux without rebooting or leaving Linux. Detaching a GPU from a running system is quite messy 😅
Could you please explain how to do it in only the GUI? I need to disable my Nvidia GPU with scripts, detaching the GPU from my main OS, before I can pass it. It’s not 100% reliable
I am using Asuswrt-merlin on my router that does not support openwrt
Last time I signed up (a few years ago) you could just enter whatever email you wanted and never bother to verify it. It’s only a problem if you forget your password
Have you had any use for the screen protector? I got the 512gb model with anti-glare and it stopped working with a glass protector on top so I decided to just skip it. Still no scratches anywhere on my deck. I just keep it in the original case when I am not using it
“The Microsoft-powered bot says bosses can take workers’ tips and that landlords can discriminate based on source of income”
Well it ain’t wrong. Business can absolutely do that and do absolutely do that. If they get caught they get a slap on the wrist and that’s it.
As long as the punishment does not match the crime the American society will never get better. This is why proper rules, regulations and oversight needs to be in place. The “free” market will never do the right thing on its own.
Does it? I assumed it works like this but I could be wrong.
Three out of five members in the family has the same game. That means three people in the family can play that game at the same time.
I would assume as any other distro. Windows applications are run through Wine or Proton on Linux. I am not currently using Vanilla OS on my machine (using arch btw), still waiting for the stable 2.0 to dive in deeper.
To run Windows applications I would install flatpak package support in any of the subsystems (arch, fedora), then install Bottles for Windows applications and Steam or Lutris for games. Never tried Lutris for applications but it might work well too.
Vanilla OS 2.0 sounds like it could be for you. That distro can install everything. I mean everything. Ubuntu stuff, Fedora stuff, Arch stuff and whatever else!
Damn, even the chair got older!
Wouldn’t that be illegal in Europe with GDPR and other consumer protection laws?
On Arch I installed the “auto-cpufreq” package and my battery life is fine
Alright, I guess we’ll just agree to disagree. I think Valve has done a fantastic job with the Steam Deck and I love it’s openess. The Steam Deck made me aware of how good Linux has become and is the reason I ditched Windows on my desktop computer
You literally said
installing HGL or any other launcher is going to be both inconvenient and require a level of investigation that most people don’t care to bother with when they can just hit “buy” on the store.
This reads to me that think Valve are going to make installing shit harder. I’m arguing that at the moment it’s easy to do and Linux is an open platform. Nothing like a walled garden
No I just think you’re exaggerating the problem and had a bad take on it. In my opinion Steam is harder to install on Windows than Heroic Launcher is to install on SteamOS.
Messing with Proton isn’t required and I am sure most games will figure out how to add a shortcut to Steam.
It’s really not that hard and there are plenty of guides available. If you are unable to visit the “store” (discovery), download a program and finally run it, then maybe you should just keep using Steam and not complicate things.
I feel like if you are smart enough to know that Heroic Launcher exists then you could figure out how to do a google search on how to install it. It’s not like Windows “just works” every time
You could install everything you need using pacman and the aur inside Distrobox. Distrobox also makes it easy to integrate in to your root system
Why do you say that? Heroic games launcher already exist on Flathub and is super easy to use
Did you even read what this is about?
