  • Might work for some countries, but the problem is that schools in the USA completely lack centralization: each school district is its own separate governing body. Jason was taught that Pilgrims to America were persecuted Christians seeking adventure and made treaties with Natives, while Derek was taught about socioeconomic nuances of 17th-19th Europe leading to incentivized settlements particularly attractive to hardcore religious extremists who then waged relentless war on the Native Americans.

There are no Universal Lies that everybody was taught, except for Dark Matter.

  • It doesn’t seem like such a large gap or grey area to me. You can tell a woman “Nice T-Shirt” and that is fine but “Nice Tits” is not fine, it’s a pretty clear division to me. What could the Doc say that would qualify him as the monster people are calling him but also not illegal?

They attempted to not pay out his contract btw. He had to sue them to get that, and they payed it out. If they had evidence of such behavior from him then I’m sure courts would agree that his own actions destroying his own public image would have been more than enough reason to cancel the contract.

  • I thought Zuniga was a part of the white supremacy faction in Bollivia but I’m not finding any connections with a search engine. Looks like Juan Jose Zuniga was accused of embezzling ~400,000 USD worth of public funds and was part of a group, Pachajchos, who watched over coca production and monitored politics. Morales accused the group of trying to assassinate him.

On the flip side, Morales was and may still be seeking a 4th or 5th term as president, he was ousted in 2019 and replaced by democratically elected Arce. So being opposed to Morales doesn’t seem like a bad thing on its own. Zuniga claims that a group of elites were destroying the nature and taking everything for themselves.

My best educated guess is that Zuniga is an opportunist who saw a fractured federal entity and wanted to wedge himself in the gap as its new leader, no matter how many lives he would need to throw on the fire in order to do so.

  • To remove all of the nuance: The democratically elected president survived an attempted overthrow from the military. He did so by:

    1. Replacing three military branch leaders who then ordered the military personnel to return to their barracks and stations.

    2. Reaching out to the citizens, who reacted quickly and without any signs of weakness to form mobs who surrounded and shouted at troops belonging to the coup.

The timeline was something like: Coup begins quietly, Coup leader Zuniga claimed to be “trying to restore democracy” at 2:47 AM, and Zuniga was arrested at 5:08 AM for the crime.
