I’m a computer engineer so I looked up her work to see if I was familiar with it. I was wondering if I would need to lookup her dead name to find her important work. In her case her big book (which I recognized immediately and have on my shelf) was published after her transition so it wasn’t necessary.
If it had been written pre transition it would have been a shame to not know she was the author.

When I was getting my engineering degree in the senior year we had some question and answer sessions with people from industry. The guy in class who thought he was way smarter than he was asked about going directly into an MBA program after graduation.
The industry guy said it was a terrible idea. Your engineering knowledge would be 2 years out of date and who knows if you would be a good manager. He said to get a job and get some experience. If you show promise as a leader a good company will offer to put you through a MBA program and you well have the real world experience to make the best of it.
So I think there is a real use for an MBA degree but only after some real world experience in your field and showing basic team leadership. People who go straight for an MBA tend to be the those who just want to boss people around and can’t handle real work.

It’s a side effect of streaming. Heavenly seralzed used to have two big drawbacks. If people didn’t catch the first few episodes that didn’t have a way to get into the story. The story also had to hold peoples interest for a week before the next episode dropped. So only the best seltzer shows lasted.
Now you start the show when you want at the beginning. So instead of making an episode that’s entertaining and when next week come around you think it was good last week I’ll watch that again you get a show that encourages setting stuff up and the implying it’s about be resolved right before the episode end.
It’s great for getting you to binge and then getting renewed on a stemmer. Stemming is the best way to watch shows produced for the old weekly broadcast system but not the best environment for developing new shows.
That works to mitigate flying insects but you are always going to have some. With citrus greening all you need is one to go from infected tree to uninfected tree and the tree is now fatally infected.
Worse the tree will live for years and the insects spread the bacteria for miles from one infected tree. Florida has spent almost two decades fighting the disease. And lost badly.

We did chase away a lot of the migrant workers and climate change is very real. However it’s the citrus greening that is to blame. We don’t even need the citrus pickers because there is nothing to pick.

Here in Florida there is a disease called citrus greening. The fruit grows small and falls off before it’s ripe. It’s basically destroyed the citrus industry. It’s spread by flying insects so impossible to control and there is no cure.
So climate change doesn’t help but that’s not the main culprit.
Behind the scenes her hair was a major problem. The original Janeway actress left after 3 days of shooting and Mulgrew was brought in to replace her.
Mulgrew’s hair was so fine the cameras had trouble picking it up. They actually shut down shooting of the pilot to figure out how to do her hair.
Eventually they just had her in a wig or a half fall depending on the scene. Though I think that was like season 2 for the wigs.
Kira’s actress got pregnant by Bashir’s actor in real life. To explain it on the show they has Keiko get pregnant but then get in an accident and they had to move the baby into Kira to save it.
This is Miles doing pregnancy care to Kira who is carrying his baby.
It’s also funny later when Kira is giving birth in the show she screams “You did this to me!” at Dr Bashir. And he in fact did put the baby in her both in the show and in real life.
