Archer looks like he’s missing part of his Kermit the Frog costume.
Yeah, I think it’s this one:
What do you want to do today, Max?
TRY TO GET IN TO THE LIBRARY!! 😼
This is a good ruling. Weird title. The first judge this case was brought before said that they couldn’t claim sexual assault, only medical malpractice because they were seeking medical care when it happened.
This ruling says sexual assault is sexual assault, even in the context of a doctor’s appointment. You wouldn’t think we need to clarify that, but here we are.
Medical malpractice suits are almost never successful, so being free to get out from under that umbrella is progress. Sad that this is still only a civil case, I would want a criminal case as well. He deserves prison and not just a fine.

You can get a tent of the same design for $77. Not sure I’d trust it in inclement weather, but it’s real cute. https://www.toynk.com/products/star-trek-the-next-generation-shuttlecraft-justman-2-person-camping-tent
I’m guessing this is one of the scenes Marina complained about being made to wear a $10 wig.
Episode spoiler:
The Voyager crew discover a new type of dilithium (warp core fuel) that can make space ships go faster than the generally accepted limit of warp 10. No one has ever gone faster than that, but it will get the crew home instantly, instead of the 70 year journey it’s currently facing.
One crew member, Lt. Tom Paris tests it out in a shuttle craft, gets to see “everything everywhere all at once” but then upon return quickly becomes allergic to water and oxygen.
The Doctor realizes he is evolving into something other than human before he escapes sick bay and kidnaps Captain Janeway for another faster than warp 10 experience. They end up on a swampy planet, turned into giant salamanders and by the time the crew finds them they have already produced three offspring.
The babies escape capture and presumably go on to sire a race of Janeway/Paris salamander creatures on a distant planet in the Delta Quadrant. Janeway and Paris get turned back into humans and they don’t try breaking warp 10 again. IDK why people don’t like it.
Yes! And also here! !awwnverts@lemmy.world
Yes, if you’re looking at it from a single perspective, you can be very clear on what they were or weren’t. You seem to be pretty invested in labeling them according to your own.
Were the Cardassians terrorists too, or do they get a pass since their actions were Official Military Operations ™? It was certainly a hotly debated topic among Federation members. You can call it black and white if you want to, there were Star Fleet officers that did. There were also respected, high ranking officers, deep into their careers that joined their cause, including Chakotay. Star Trek is nothing if not nuanced.
Half of Janeway’s (the lady above) crew on Voyager were members of the Maquis before they joined her. The Maquis were freedom fighters in the resistance against the Cardassian occupation/colonization in the demilitarized zone. The Cardassians (brutal, planet-hungry, militaristic race) considered them terrorists, the Federation considered them dangerous traitors. Voyager was on a mission to catch the group of Maquis under Chakotay’s command on the Valjean (named for the Les Miserables character imprisoned for a just crime) when both ships got tossed 75 years journey from home. The two captains decided to merge their crews and Chakotay became Janeway’s first officer after Chakotay sacrificed his ship to save members of both crews.
People have (light hearted) animosity toward Janeway mainly because she had to make a hard decision when two crew members got merged into one in a transporter accident. The resulting person was a new being who wanted to live, but keeping him alive would mean sacrificing the two original people. She also fucked around with the timeline so much that one of the time cops went insane trying to fix the issues she was continuously creating. And she’s a bit cranky when she doesn’t get any coffee.
I live in the Bay Area and there are like 5 of them in my small, rural town, so I see them daily. I laugh every time. As silly as they look in photos, it’s just so much sillier in real life. Especially out in the county where I live.
