  • I can see the logic in that. Nothing wrong with rewatching something with new perspective you had compared to the first go around. I just know people who have watched the Office an obscene amount of times, and personally I just can’t do it. I thought the Office was really funny, but not watch it every day for 10 years funny. That’s just me, though - obviously different strokes for different folks.

Also, damn I haven’t seen SG1 since I was a wee lad. So many good SciFi shows back then, I think I might have to rewatch it myself.

  • I think it’s far more about nostalgia. Of course the same people who have watched the office 100 times over are going to watch it 100 times again. They aren’t looking to be entertained, they’re looking to veg out and not think (which I suppose to some is entertainment). NFL

Plus I can’t even think of a popular show in the past 10 years that had a meaningful conclusion. I don’t really watch a lot of TV so this could easily just be that I’m out of the loop, but it seems like a lot of endings are bad.

  • I’ve been to a chiropractor.

The woman claimed basil essential oil could be used in place of: ibuprofen, hand sanitizer, soap, and a few other things.

That’s right, not only was she a chiropractor; she was an essential oil salesperson.

Snake oil. Chiropractors are snake oil salesman, no different from TCM peddlers. I think TCM peddlers are actually, at least in the U.S. where you can’t sell water that’s had dead animals fermenting in it, better because acupuncture won’t permanently damage you. It just gives you that nice placebo.

  • If you’re reading this, just know that I will probably butt heads with you at some point. I can be abrasive, and I typically don’t censor what I think.

That being said, I wouldn’t choose any other social media. Lemmy makes me think of what the United States should be, disparate communities coming together to form a larger and stronger whole. I can be an asshole, spit my shit and have people discuss things with me in a rational manner - for the most part coming to a common understanding.

I’ve learned a lot about who I want to be from talking to and reading what Lemmians have to say. I will always appreciate this place.

  • It’s easy to feel that way even if you are a techy. It seems like being minimally neurodivergent is the abnormal here.

That being said, I’ve been introduced to many different ways of thinking that I wouldn’t have gained otherwise. Think of it like you’re different, but that’s ok because everyone here is different - and that makes them (and you) all the more beautiful for it (especially in the context of idea exchange). In fact, being the different one here will give you the perspective that many of the people who use Lemmy experience simply by existing which, in and of itself, is a valuable thing.

  • corralling student attention in the hands of the parents

    What does this mean?

Also, I don’t necessarily disagree with what you’re saying ; the people in control of schools across the U.S. should be ashamed of themselves. However it is the responsibility of the parents to not just shove their kids in front of a screen because they’re too busy for them.

Teachers have it hard enough as it is, I have nothing to say on that front. I would never have the patience to go through what teachers go through, period.

  • No he’s got several great points.

Sweet Baby Inc is trash, every game they’ve touched is a dumpster fire.

The things he points out makes it pretty clear that they use inclusivity and “wokeness” to mask how talentless they are, which is actually pretty common throughout the gaming industry these days. Not just the gaming industry either, the Harley Quinn show was a checklist of ‘woke’ talking points (and trash, another good example is Velma although Velma was pretty mask off in their biases).

Case in point, Hades 2. We go from male protagonist Zagreus in the first game, to female protagonist Melinoë in the second. Guess what? Not a single time am I found questioning the validity of the writing because it’s actually good and doesn’t hinge on echo chamber synchronization.

Idk, I think he probably hinges on ‘the message’ too hard but he isn’t wrong.
