I’m 40 and I have told my 10 year old about my birth parents and their horrors. Not at length. Curious if you think this is a good thing? I do think it helps bring perspective, my kiddo is full of joy and gratitude but I dont want to burden her so I keep it short. How did it effect your relationship?

When you go through that it’s a relief when they pass (not sorry, it’s true) it’s hard of they estrange themselves while living then pass and youre left with so many what ifs. Just know my heart aches for you and I’m sorry you have to go through the many little deaths that come with estrangement and finality. Hang in there. The horrific parenting that led to PSA asking if they know where their kids are. The fucking unsolved kidnappings. The escalators that didn’t have emergency stops and would choke you to death on your own shoelace.

Same thing happened during the outsourcing craze of early 2000s. Everything and I mean everything moved to India or Philippines. There’s even a movie about it because it was so common. I and everyone else lost our jobs. about a year later the contracts expired and we all got jobs back and outsourcing is used in balance. Eventually ai use will be balanced I hope. It cannot replace us. Not yet anyways.

The “humor” is just Ryan being Ryan. He is a mean guy. It’s funny on screen but IRL he is just that rude and gross to everyone without discrimination. I had to work with him twice and I dislike him. His wife is the same way. They are just objectively cruel for no reason. Which is funny when you’re acting on screen only.

I have watched Forrest Gump many many times trying to understand the appeal and because others liked it and wanted to watch it. I begged my brain to like literally anything about it but it cannot. It is horrible. I dislike it so deeply. I still can’t figure out why.

Despite the movie being mid, the book is awesome. Highly recommend. easy read.
