Since the mods here are already effectively modding that community perhaps they would be interested.

It definitely needs to be separated, this should be a light hearted community.

Saying that mildlyinfuriating will allow actually infuriating content until another community is made is a bit like saying we will have foodporn allowing hardcore bondage content until hardcore bondage content until a community is made for hardcore bondage. That isn’t what that community is for.

Even if there isn’t a specific infuriating community there is almost always another appropriate place, most often one of the politics communities.

Unfortunately a lot of sites have ditched support for RSS over the past 10 years requiring tedious work arounds if you can get it to work at all.

I hope it can make a comeback but I’m dubious.

I don’t think that this is a distraction, yes the policies and actions of these people need scrutiny more so than symbolic things like this.

But

This salute is associated with a historical movement that has been disavowed by all but the most extreme rightists throughout the 20th century, it is both shocking and revealing that mainstream political and business leaders now seem to be embracing it openly.

Looked this up as I optimistically thought it might be an unfortunate still that looked nothing like a nazi salute on video, but nope.

While I think that legalisation, or at least decriminalisation, for personal use is probably the right policy decision I agree with Elton to a degree.

Currently there is a fairly well established cultural belief at least in English speaking countries that marijuana is not addictive, not dangerous to health, and not problematic at all.

The belief that marijuana is largely harmless persists despite the fact that we all know people who smoke excessively to the point of making their lives worse and if they come to this realisation they find it incredibly difficult to stop.

Criminalisation of marijuana, especially combined with over policing of specific communities as occurred in the USA, is a disaster. But not recognising the very real harms that marijuana does to some peoples lives is also a disaster.
