Can somebody explain to me why cryptobros call regular money “fiat” and thus imply that their made up computer currency has actual, tangible value (which it doesn’t).

Idk, 56 billion buckaroos would instantly make me “lose interest” in working. Permanently.
Our first family computer, a tremendous beast with 128KB of RAM, a 40MB HDD and a whopping 6MHz processor that you could clock up to 12MHz, there was a program that I used to do that too. I can’t remember what it was called, pretty sure it was not Paint tho (I faintly remember typing “colors” to get to it). You could draw squiggly lines with a pen tool, enter text, circles and squares, but no triangles. You could also fill shapes with color (2 switchable pallets with 16 colors each IIRC) and even “shade” the area. The shading was just diagonal, parallel lines, but you could choose which direction they go lol
I like Paint because it lacks all of that. 95% of the time, I just need cut, rotate and resize.
Their CEO just boasted about how making content for their platform comes with zero cost for the creators. So, why are they raising rates? Is the whole “you pay to support the creators” trope a lie? I am confused.

Probably got a notice they are being laid off

furthering class divide, ultimately leading to a collapse in countries and economies
Might be the cynic in me but I don’t think that would be the worst outcome. Maybe it will finally be the straw that breaks the camel’s back for people to realize that being a highly replaceable worker drone wage slave isn’t really going anywhere for everyone except the top-0.001%.
I wish I could help the debugging process, but my experience with mobile phones is extremely limited, so I have no idea how to provide good feedback. All I do on my phone is identify bird calls and browse lemmy, really.
So you’re not for reining in megacorps, just the ones you don’t see as a personal benefit.
I’m experiencing a problem where the post I am replying to doesn’t scroll up fhar enough and blocks the comment box on a Redmi 4X.
It looks like this in this post:

I’m stealing this.
It’s happening because people allow it to happen. I recently unsubbed from a channel because they were beginning to use community posts to promote sponsors. Like a giant fucking post with complete BS like “I always wanted to do X video and now thanks to RAID SHADOW LEGENDS include huge pic it is now reality. Thank you RAID SHADOW LEGENDS and with code BullshitPromoFromYT you get 10% off the newest hat or whatever shit they sell in that game”. Some people complained and asked the creator not to do this, but they were quickly flooded by the hordes of “they have to make money somehow”-drones. Despicable.
“We do AI now”. Shareholders creaming themselves, stocks going to the moon. New yacht for PichAI.
You know, I’ve always wondered why people substitute ß with ss if it’s not available in the typeset. The name of ß is literally “Eszett”, so it should be substituted with sz.
Captcha was implemented to stop bots and now they are so fucked up that bots are better at solving captchas than humans.
For example the captcha on this site (it’s a google search proxy). It took me 4 tries and last time I checked, I was human. To be fair, they call it an intelligence check, so maybe that was the problem.
Mine doesn’t:
Fiat money is money that is not backed by precious metals and since gold standards have been abolished in every country, technically every currency is fiat. Fiat, in Latin, is the third-person singular present active subjunctive form of the verb fio which means “to become” or “to happen”, for example the phrase “let there be light” would be “fiat lux” in Latin.
