At best we get fresh new EULA’s to click through on our way to play our game.
I’ve signed a lot of petitions over the years, and I’d sign this one too, but it’s pretty naive to think this will actually do anything useful.

You hurt my brain.
Welcome to Microsoft marketing, you’ll make a great fit!
I bet the nazi’s will have fake “real” ones ready to go either way. When they want to take their current purge to the next level, you’re fucking done.
don’t go to shithole america
Actual problem solved.
Oh don’t worry, the grifters will all have cashed out and be floating away on golden parachutes long after the decades of litigation is over.
Until June 5th for anyone wondering.
I bought a pile of Steam sales early on, and Humble Bundles to the point I can’t bring myself to spend money anymore on games I won’t play… my backlog is too much, but damn, the Epic store’s freebie of the week? You can bet your ass I’m building up a backlog in that store too. There has been some junk in that but every now and then they have a fun little puzzle game or something - which is about my pace these days.
This one is well established and old enough that it has it’s own wikipedia article.
^ Right here. Company I worked at had trash dropped in the back of one our service vehicles (as well as some straight up vandalism), had lots of personally identifying info and the culprit had already made themselves well known to our staff a couple weeks prior. Guy told the police the trash was stolen and nothing further ever happened with it.
That’s it right here boys and girls. The only defining factor for utility: Can it fit a sheet of plywood. God help you if you just prop it up - you gotta limp it home if you do that! Needs to sit flat in the bed!
Everything else is a fucking toy.
My understanding is many of their changes were merged back into Freecad for the 1.0 release.
Due to the two piece construction here you would have to wrap this whole thing in sealant to keep water out because (to para-quote Dr. Ian Malcolm) “water uhh finds a way”.
Dab of anti-sieze or stainless hardware would be my go to if I wanted to pull this apart after a couple years.
I watch other people play the games. Then when I’m tired I close my eyes and I have a nap. I can wake up, fully rested and maybe get to see the final boss! Or not. Maybe I just go to bed.
At the marketing circle jerk that is the other game awards, I would expect this. At the Game goddamn developers choice awards, yeah, show some support for the people. OR, make the effort to reach out to the people that made the game - some of them were actually at the GDC! It’s not like they dropped off the face of the earth after being laid off.
Imagine a best actor award at the Oscars not having anyone come up because the actor left Miramax to join Universal afterwards - but the fucking guy is sitting in the audience.
What an embarrassment.
Re: marketing etc comment at the bottom
This is certainly marketing, whether for the product or the service. However, it’s also got an educational component which is why I’ve enjoyed Slant3D’s videos - I have no use for a print farm service but some of the ideas and principles they want to encourage still apply to my hobbyist designs. That said, whenever I talk about 3d printing with friends and family, someone will talk about doing it as a business and I point to a service like this for that.
There is certainly a grey area to balance but I would lump this content in educational and worthy of discussion. And that’s probably the biggest thing to encourage with a post here - where is the discussion going when sharing content. As a community grows in volume of posts, stricter standards and forking off communities for different niches need to happen.
BB being able to protect itself from the big players is actually a success story of patents. The 800 lb gorilla’s of the industry never made as good of a keyboard, but if they could have copied BB’s superior design, they would have stomped them in a heartbeat.
There’s a lot of shit about what happens for a dying company and selling patents and so forth that absolutely is scummy. Serious discussion needs to happen there, but calling for them to be abolished? That’s just naive.
Shout-outs to the updates that have come along to fortress mode as well. More soundtrack (and it’s so good) and so many little quality of life things.
They’ll be going back to more regular updates to fortress mode now as well.
Agreed! But then again, it depends on the player I think. Someone that loves DND and never played SimCity I guess… maybe? I come from a background the other way around XD
And this is the problem. I really don’t think you’re aware of how fucking sophisticated cheats are. Anti-cheat software isn’t looking for people with high K:D’s or or snappy aimbots. The server can’t tell if you can see through the walls. The server has no way to know what’s also running on your computer.
Anti-cheat is looking for signs and signatures of those tools cheaters use. And, no, it’s not as easy as looking for a process called “TEH-HAX0RS.exe”. It’s borderline virus levels of sneaky, simulating regular processes. And, just like malware, there is business incentive for these people to be a step ahead of the anti-cheats because stupid kids still keep buying these fucking things. Antivirus and Anticheat are both fighting basically the same people.
I’m not going to disagree that it sucks and some games just make it too fucking easy to begin with by having poor code and structure, but by and large, if it was easy to detect cheaters in the server, it would have been done by now.
If privacy is your number one priority, abso-fucking-lutely don’t play the game. Or at least use a dedicated PC or game console. That said, ruining the enjoyment of the game for everyone else by letting cheaters have a field day will be less acceptable to the game buying public.
