Never really played this other than a few times at a friends place back in the day. I was a Halo fan but always thought the vehicles in UT 2004 looked like cooler versions of the Halo vehicles (the UNSC oness mainly but some are similar to covenant vehicles too). Especially the Scorpion, it’s like a sleeker warthog with fucking mantis blades, that’s just objectively super cool.

There is nothing literally taken from minecraft. All the textures are original, and not even that similar to minecraft. I’ve talked with people like you before who just has no fucking clue about something that is so obvious to just about everyone else when it comes to stuff like this. It’s very clearly NOT minecraft, nothing in anything shown in the images or anywhere else from the game gives any hint at stolen models, textures etc. There are tons of block games like this and many that look way more similar but those have never gotten a DMCA.

Did you miss the “autoplay and highly personalised recommender system”? Those are the two big major differences and what makes people so addicted to tiktok etc. in a much worse way than forums in all forms (like reddit and lemmy). Reddit and Lemmy doesn’t have any thing that curates what you see based on your habits, that’s done by yourself or not at all.

That really doesn’t fit here IMO. It took decades of bullshit, law breaking, blatant spying, hostile persuasion etc. of US IT being forced onto the world, and without Trump and the fucking nightmare circus that’s going on this wouldn’t have happened. The world would have kept bending the knee and even inviting all of it forever, it took THIS MUCH to get the world to take a step back and realise that this isn’t a good thing.

They could remove that competition by making a better product, but that is somehow always the last thing they’d ever think about. It never stops being so fucking weird with all these business people who go to great lengths to do shitty stuff and always end up making it worse for everyone except a quick buck for themselves, even though they could easily make a lot more for a longer time by simply doing a good job. But no, that would require anything other than immediate greed. Absolutely vile people.

The Oblivion remaster is a lot more than just modern graphics though… There are a ton of completely changed mechanics, new ones and others that are just tweaked. It’s very much not just a graphical refresh.

I agree, the weird thing is that this view seems to be changing among leftist people. I live in a very leftist area in a leftist city in a leftist country and the past ~5 years whenever the topic of age difference has come up among people my age (35) or younger it’s been increasingly “they’re both adults, nothing wrong about it”. And I just can’t agree, it grosses me out and feels wrong in the deepest parts of my soul. Yeah, they’re both adults (when it comes to the youngest being 18+) but that can’t be the only thing that decides if it is or feels wrong.
