I’m using Teams in Windows, I have a software KVM to move between my Linux PC and work windows laptop

Well, I’m a unix guy for 30 years and hated M$ bill gates blablabla and forced to use windows at work etc. Teams was somewhat bad at the beginning, especially start of covid pandemic , I’m using Teams multiple times daily for ~5 years now. But since ~1 year it handles video call pretty nicely, 20+ feeds, share screens, whiteboard, etc. it’s pretty stable at least, don’t crash anymore, and we can have multiple accounts. It took times to reach this state I agree…

Not specific to Apple… it’s the same thing for Android… buy a “brand A” bulb, nowhere to find the app, install another app for “brand B” and it works… SmartLife, SmartThing, ECO plugs (this one was hard to find, it is to control my WiON plug), Sylvania Smart Home (for the bluetooth ones), Tapo (I had Kasa too but TP-Link made them work with Tapo, one less app!!!), Geeni, etc, all kinds of apps… and some stuf like the Sylvania BT bulb can be flashed with their own firmware, the google home firmware, the amazon alexa firmware etc so if you have the wrong one, it half-ass pairs and does not work, you have to toggle its power 5 times to repair with the app etc

About everywhere… In Toronto it’s now 1 million+. In Vancouver it’s now 2 millions+

I highly doubt it, seriously, I don’t think they test update some VMs and say “that’s good”, there’s thousands and thousands people working at MS, I don’t know how many on win11 but certainly a few hundreds, I doubt none of them install the upgrade on real hardware to test.

Netflix in Canada has the 1080p remaster ones, pretty good!

I know it’s not a hardware compatibility problem. People just don’t want ads/tracking/AI bullshit, a removed control panel, settings that are hard to find/hidden, etc.

All intel processor 8th gen+ (and even some 7th gen IIRC) are win11 compatible, motherboard have TPM2 for years, even my intel 6th gen MB have TPM2.0.

Next year the intel 8th gen will have 8 years, people have PC/laptop more recent than that. Problem is that win10 will not get security updates and all.

Now I have a Hisense with google TV, it’s not bad, no ads, apps like Netflix and Disney+ are in Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos.

Yes, there is laws, IANA says that ideally in 3-5 years all the .io will be gone, like the .yu ones, they do not exist anymore.

But working with embedded stuff, sometimes MCU with like 8MB embedded flash, have a 512k uboot, 1.5MB kernel, you are left with 6MB of flash for the whole application and lib, and busybox is a savior here!

I saw a couple of DIY portable PC like this, a SFF in a suitcase, a portable 15" screen attached to it, hinge with a small keyboard, etc, in a kind of DIY enclosure.

I wanted to do it with my mini PC (a bee-link, it’s like 4"x5"x2"), with a usb-c portable monitor (no external AC adapter needed), and my Lenovo Trackpoint Keyboard II (super slim, with a trackpoint so no need for external mouse), all in a small Aluminum Attache Case
