I guess I’m so used to it at this point that I just add the shift automatically and don’t really consider it annoying
Such an annoying kludge to make a common operation work.
That describes nearly everything in software, doesn’t it😅

The Telegraph - isn’t that the “news” site that officially posts all their articles to the complete cesspit that is /r/conservative?

Meta is largely the reason for the current state of the world via their purposeful boosting of alt-right talking points. They’ve helped incite a genocide ffs. They’re not actively on the streets shooting people but this is what the company pushed for
I’m not American but I am in tech and have been unemployed since January and even though my financial situation is grim, Meta and Palantir are two companies I would never, ever work for or even apply to. There’s always plenty of other companies to apply to (which is what I did and I start somewhere tomorrow!)

My car has been broken for weeks but I haven’t bothered fixing it because I can walk to everything I need and own an escooter (and a bike i’m slowly fixing) for anything further. Even my new office is only a 25 minute walk away. I’m not even sure what gas prices are right now and I don’t really care

The right to privacy is important

Only time it’s acceptable is in front of a cop since they can’t be trusted to operate the cameras they should be wearing themselves
If this is rage bait by the OOP then god damn did I ever take the bait

Thank you for the writeup! I wasn’t actually familiar with the C4 project structure and it’s cool that Mbin went with thay. I do remember Ernest and how that went down but I was curious about the Monero-pimping stuff. I was digging a bit but I couldn’t find any information on that point

but the guy who was mostly responsible for it is a bit of a twat and mostly used it to pimp Monero
Oh damn, I missed that bit if fedi drama. Is there a writeup of what happened anywhere?

I’m so happy Ryan found Canada “too woke” and sold GameStop’s Canadian branch. Only good thing he’s done because now it’s rebranded back to the proper EB Games name and owned by Canadians

Why is a company or person that doesn’t exist physically in Utah at all responsible for adhering to Utah’s laws?
This line of thinking is dangerous as it allows companies to disregard any sane legislation as long as their servers are located in a “safe” place. A large portion of websites accessible from Canada are served from US servers, for example. American companies ignoring Canadian laws because they don’t have Canadian-based servers would be a nightmare
If a company makes any money off users in a geographic area (which includes ad view revenue), they have to follow the rules there which is a GOOD thing - even if it’s ridiculous in this case
Also endorsing governments selectively blocking websites is just bad for obvious reasons
It’s a rule enforced by r/ProgrammingHumor so it could either be carrying on that tradition or scripted reposting from that subreddit
I think it really depends on the work the program does and how effectively it uses caching, concurrency, etc. Something like data serialisation would probably be a lot slower in Python compared to something like handling simple UI event triggers which might only have that 0.001 difference

Hey maybe computer components will cost a sane amount in the sane rest of the west
Absolutely! You can’t ever underestimate passionate open source devs haha
I did oversimplify it a bit and it is indeed per-game. The rpcs3 devs did recreate all of the basics like user accounts and trophies but playing DS online required connecting to a custom server that was a separate project
PS3 emulation is crazy good as well and even PS4 emulation is getting there! It’s so crazy to me that the rpcs3 devs reverse engineered and rebuilt the PSN network to the point of allowing me to play through Demon’s Souls as if it was still online

I initially disagreed but after actually reading the post, I’m with you. If it was only the article’s text that was generated and not the data or graphs then I don’t see why the whole thing would be written off. I mean, it’s really sad seeing people offload their writing to AI but I still found it interesting.
Why?
