Numberone@startrek.websiteto Technology@beehaw.org•I love my smart TV (From Mastodon) - Repost1·7 months agoYou can always get a new Chromecast (we were forced to as the ancient bullet proof one told us to “fuck off, I want to die”). The new one has a remote control and apps, which I always thought were missing from the minimalist Chromecast family of products. So look at us, now we have a shitty roku when all we wanted was a device that I could send things to from my phone. Needed and wanted nothing more, but I got it. My tone is muddled here, so I’ll make it clear that it’s worse than it used to be, and I’m annoyed I was forced to pay to downgrade.

They never said “people watched children be exploded on twitter or Insta”. That could be due to user preference or whatever, but as an outsider, I have the ambient notion that more of this kind of content was coming from tiktok.
More concretely, in a lot of the stuff that came out of the twitter files, it’s clear that the US government does have, what I would classify as, inappropriate contact with american social media companies that can controle narratives. Without saying something with absolute certainty, the statement he’s making sounds pretty reasonable.
Also nothing is just one thing, there’s probably a ton going on.

There’s something about how messy the lore is. Some collectables don’t tell you anything except shape the atmosphere of the oldest house, which is so nice. It was so beautiful too. Really good low flying game. I’m gonna definitely check out some other titles by this studio. I’ve played AW 1 and loved the connections to that. Just a real surprising 10/10 for me.

But as I’ve watched repeatedly, she was a great character who made her presence known. She wasn’t perfect, but she was interesting and she changed as the season went on wrt Data. I still think she was a eagerly underrated character.

The goal is to reduce Chinese market share in the US EV market, protection of US industry ( lets be honest, probably the owners’ income stream). I don’t see that goal failing being likely.
Numberone@startrek.websiteto Technology@beehaw.org•History says tariffs rarely work, but U.S. President Biden’s 100% tariffs on Chinese EVs could defy the trend, researcher says8·1 year agoSee this makes sense to me. In good faith I don’t understand how tariffs couldn’t work. I mean, even if it doesn’t STOP import of Chinese EV’s, the uptake would be so much less than if they were 50% off…right?
History is rife with examples of countries developing their own industries by making imports more expensive.

Numberone@startrek.websiteto Technology@lemmy.world•Report: Microsoft to face antitrust case over TeamsEnglish17·1 year agoI’ve had to repeatedly switcho “new teams”. The selection isn’t sticky for some reason. It seems like it shouldn’t be that hard to develope a messaging app that does file transfers and meetings but apparently this bloated pile of horseshit proves reason wrong. A second long delay when changing threads? “You’ll use it because corporate says you will…and you’ll LOVE IT”.

I don’t think that someone is talking about using BTC or ETH. They’re literally unusable to make purchases (multiple minute settling times and the high costs you mentioned) but any other functional L1 would work. Algorand for examply has ~3second block times with instant finality and costs a fraction of a fraction of a cent to use the network. Those fees couple be subsidised they’re so low. They’re significantly lower than a rail like Visa or MasterCard. But you’re right, implementing it so anyone can easily use and access it is key.
