  • I’ll just share with you my experience:

I was also paying for a YouTube Premium family plan, but still got ads. What made me cancel was the fact that they’re still using trackers, so they were making money off me three times (subscription, ads, and selling my data)!

Coupled with the fact that “content creators” don’t really make content for the love of making it. It’s all created “for the algorithm”, especially the “watch to the end”, clickbait titles and thumbnails, “like and subscribe” begging, “only 15% of you are subscribers”, sponsored content disguised as education, etc… Videos today are nothing like they were 15 years ago, because it became solely about making money.

Google is one of the pioneers of the enshittification movement!

As long as individuals are allowed to hoard hundreds of billions (soon, trillions) of dollars that they couldn’t possibly use in 1000 years, then this will never end.

We need to cap personal wealth, and it needs to be a number so low that any one person can’t take over a country like Nazi Musk is doing at this very moment.

There is absolutely no reason why we have homeless people, people who can’t afford medication, kids who are hungry, and students who have to choose between education and a roof over their head.

These problems exist because there are literal trillionsof dollars being hoarded by a few people, when it should have been distributed to everyone who actually earned it.

  • Deepseek’s massive efficiency improvement ought to improve profitability

Depends on if you’re the AI provider, or the user.

For institutions that had to pay massive fees to use cloud-based AI services, now they might be able to pull it off in house or with far less costs involved. It will save money.

For those selling AI, it’ll get very competitive, and they can’t charge hundreds or thousands of dollars anymore. It will be less profitable or not at all.

    AI was already unprofitable

And the silver lining was that all those American companies wasted hundreds of millions, if not, billions on developing the tech. Good for them for wasting all that money.

And good for China for making Deepseek open source as an added “fuck you” to AI capitalists.
