Dude that would be funny as hell and Microsoft fucking deserves it. They don’t make a single quality product; all they seem to be able to do is reskin a ‘90s Windows OS as a worse product for ten thousandth time and close competitors so they don’t need to do any real work.
We’d get to watch Microsoft somehow destroy it, which would be as amazing as it would be awful. They really know how to make a great product terrible.
Though, who am I kidding, they’d just close the entire thing down and expect people to switch to their store. That’s all capitalism’s “competition” is good for these days.

If you really want someone to make it easy for you, basically Lyu has made some absolutely bonkers promises under the old company name from making a carbon negative crypto-currency attached to real-world solar grids using NFTs as a sort of stock option all the way to promising that they’d invent an AI powered digital universe that would be so advanced that it would basically mirror real life. He said all that and declared not only a roughly two year timeline but also that ten years wouldn’t be necessary.
And yet now he and his company can’t even produce this Rabbit thing in a way that can even barely function. Once again, tech bros are showing just how much “idea people” are kinda worthless when they have zero concept of how to execute literally anything with any depth. Venture Capitalists are also once again proving how stupid they are for believing this crap again.

Leaving Windows is difficult for a lot of people as Linux is quite there yet for grandma and Apple products, while I love them, are expensive. Most people are moving to having it all on their phone, though, but that also means even less care about putting money or energy into a whole-ass computer.
Excel is good but for most people Google Sheets is fine(are cheaper). The rest of Office is crap.
The Xbox is certainly not worth it. Makes me sad because I like the controller more but that’s life, I guess. Besides, they didn’t invent it anyway, it was a Sega(I believe) thing.
For my part I’ll buy the controllers for PC games, and my friend is working on getting us reliable Linux setups, but for most people it’s not so easy. They don’t know what they don’t know, either.
100%, and that’s how they getcha. Like buying stocks always being sold as if it’s a regular person buying $1,000 of shares in a company they want to see grow while some empty suits are using millions of dollars to try to short a business to make some quick cash.

More and I wonder why we allow companies to buy up competition. Why are companies allowed to own other companies at all, anyway? Seems kinda fuckin’ ridiculous.
I know there’s good to it, but without stricter control it eventually just does the same thing as every other capitalist mechanism: Result in the power being used to kill competition and/or turn good projects into sterile money machines until eventually their reputation is garbage.

My grandmother can use her iPhone just fine, thanks. Old people just grew up still very deep in the “shame” style of teaching and so many are incredibly hesistant to learn knew things. They ‘re either proud they don’t know so it’s “cool” or laugh it off and say “haha old dog!”. Learning the new thing would require exposing themselves to a lot of information they don’t know and the struggle of learning it which all that trauma makes them afraid of.

It feels like most of the world runs on it from thousands of years of reinforcing those behaviours. If the threat of death or jail time is what you got for communication, even just as the messenger, then why even bother?
I’m not here to play olympics with people who struggle to empathize with others. I’m sorry awful things have happened to you, that doesn’t give you any right to invalidate someone else’s pain.
As an example, I could say two things:
The problem with shame, in my experience, has been that it might reinforce one very specific thing strongly but it also closes people off to learning anything else. If they learn the wrong thing, new information changes what’s right, or they simply don’t know something yet it’s hard for them to admit that they’re wrong/missing info.
Being shouted at by an authority figure for leaving your dishes out, for example, might make sure you can’t see a dish without remembering that horrible event so you put it away but the extra baggage that comes with is so not worth it, not even a little.
Are we doing pain olympics? Just because someone has it better or less immediately noticeable doesn’t mean it’s less valid. It might be less extreme but telling they don’t have trust issues because you saw someone die doesn’t help anyone.
I’m sorry you had to go through that, it sounds awful. Being regularly expected to be and treated like a gullible idiot by people who have power over you isn’t fun either.
