  • I use a disposable vape now and I was adamant about not using one because of the wastefulness, until they banned flavored vape liquid in my state.

It started to get really hard to buy coils for my vape, because it became unprofitable for these companies to operate here, and then even harder to find the liquid I enjoy.

Non-disposable ones tend to be bulky too. Not to mention the maintenance is a huge pain in the ass. The non-disposable vapes tend to leak. Doesn’t matter which one you use. If you don’t prime the coil correctly they burn out in a few puffs, and you just wasted 5+ bucks on the coil you’ve been searching for. Coils only tend to last a few days to a week as well. So you’re always on this search to find coils. Also reusable ones only last for a few months to maybe a year anyway (if you’re lucky), then you have to spend 100+ on a new one.

Sure you could get the little pod ones but now you’re being wasteful because you can’t reuse those either, and break twice as fast.

Now I can buy 2 disposables that last a month, don’t leak, don’t take a lot of real estate in my pocket, are significantly cheaper, is easier to find, and the flavor is always consistent.

I would’ve been fine with my reusable one until they banned the products that allowed me to use it.

So yeah prohibition doesn’t work. You ban this people will just go back to smoking. Which is just as wasteful and way more toxic.

  • I agree. I typically skip sex scenes in movies. Those scenes very seldom add anything to the story imo.

Unless it makes sense. In “What Women Want” with Mel Gibson, I believe that is a great example of a sex scene adding to the movie. The whole premise is him reading women’s minds, so him having sex with Marisa Tomei and hearing their thoughts while in the act added to the premise.

So when I see a movie that is just like “hey these people are hot and we should film them go at it” is just boring imo.

  • Never said it didn’t, but reddit is more left leaning than right as a whole.

Lemmy is just straight lefty though. I’m a liberal person so it doesn’t bother me other than it just being a massive circle jerk most of the time.

Look I understood that when I made that comment no one would like it, but it’s just the truth…

I’ve been here since the API garbage from reddit, and use it daily so I feel like I can make an honest assessment of my experience thus far.

I like it, its great. Better than reddit in a lot of ways. If someone is/was a heavy Reddit user I recommend it.

  • Welcome to Lemmy! If you thought Reddit was left leaning, you’re in for a wild ride!

Also if you’re an American you probably shouldn’t be, because they automatically assume you’re from the Bible belt. They will simultaneously say they don’t care for American politics but then will always be talking about it.

Linux is the best OS just don’t get into it. You better be using firefox. All the niche subs you had on Reddit aren’t here, and you’ll more likely just be blocking communities instead of subbing to anything.

And no one reads the articles, way more than reddit imo

The comments are slightly more interesting though.

It’s not all that bad though, I’m being a little sarcastic, but only a little…

  • Well it’s still JLo. If you aren’t much a fan you won’t be too impressed. Imo she can be fairly one directional in her movies.

That said, when I watch a movie that has heavy CGI I try and take a step back throughout the movie from all the special effects and evaluate an actors performance.

Ya ok sounds pretentious, but I try to imagine the environment they are in when acting. It’s basically nothing but a green box, with someone off to the side reading lines.

If they can give a fairly believable performance I’m impressed, because we see all the special effects, editing, direction and production. The actor has to imagine it, and hope they don’t look like a dumbass in post.

65 was alright. Wanted more dinosaurs though lol

  • It’s usually less that that too. Typically if you show you have got your license within the time of getting the ticket they let you go. If he just showed up and said he has an appointment or was going to make one, the judge would’ve made another date so that he could prove he got his license. Then no fine or jail.

Happened to me. I was pulled over without a license. Immediately went and got my license. They made a date but the mailing address they sent to I wasn’t there. Being dumb I thought meant it was handled.

Lo and behold like 10 years later, when I’m getting hired for my current job they say I have a bench warrant. I went down to the courthouse the next day, the judge gave me a real weird look since it’s been like 10 years, and said " do you have your license " I showed it to him, and then let me go.

  • Rimworld is one of those games I’m addicted to for like 2 weeks non-stop.

Then once I have 30 colonists and they can’t even keep the floor clean cuz I have too many things going on, I’m done because i know I’ll never “finish” anything. Even though every time I start that game I tell myself I’ll finally build the spaceship this time.
