Sometimes finding the right thing, on a day that you have the right energy and focus, is the hard part. A lot of people face something similar when they enter retirement.
I’ve never considered myself an artistic person, but many years ago I was laid off and had a few months of time to fill, and in a surprise to myself, I started making pixel art animations and absolutely loved it. It fulfilled some sort of latent creative need that I didn’t realize was there until I had the time.
I think many of us would be surprised at what parts of our personalities come out when not suppressed by the daily grind.
Seriously. Think of how many people would do something amazing if they could risk a gap in their employment without losing healthcare.
Well I’m sure it wouldn’t lie about that. What a relief!
Yeah, it’s probably best to focus on the positives. The AI box has been opened, and there’s no closing it back up, even if we wanted to.
I’m really looking forward to seeing that
I think the Pulaski character could have been incredible if they had stuck with her, although on my first watch, I was already attached to Dr. Crusher and was upset that she had been replaced. Given some time and perspective now, I think I would have preferred Pulaski from the start. Diana Muldaur would have knocked that role out of the park.
Credit where it is due, however, I appreciate that they tried to show family dynamics on the Enterprise in TNG. It adds some grounding and realism to Roddenberry’s vision of the future (even though the Wesley-focused episodes still make me roll my eyes).
Yay!
Yes.
Well now I’m sad twice.
I keep watching random Norm compilations on youtube when I can’t think of anything else to watch.i wish there was someone that matched his style today.
Well yeah, but so was I.
Parents of a 3 month old who aren’t quite sure what day/week/month it is.
Yeah, on one of his sick holodeck adventures.
Right?! They were like Twilight Zone episodes, but in space.
You’re probably right. I bet I’m being US-centric to just assume everyone there values free speech/expression with the same cultural intensity.
What is happening in the UK in the last year or so? I keep seeing crazy headlines like this every so often.
The online safety act requiring ID, police showing up at old people’s houses for their Facebook/twitter posts, or that one time someone suggested they would try to extradite Americans for the same thing. Where is this coming from all of a sudden?
That’s egregious, wow.
