  • Your assumptiom would most likely be wrong. The vast majority of punks in general are anti-racist and would gladly punch a Nazi. The ones that are most likely to actually deliver the punch are the bald guys in typical punk attire.

The original skinhead movement was very progressive, anti-racist, and there are plenty of skinhead punks still representing it in the exact same way. All of the skinhead punks in my area identify as SHARPS or Skinheads Against Racial Prejudice, and I don’t live in a super progressive place or anything.

Nazi skinhead punks aren’t seen in public much, nowadays, mostly thanks to the guaranteed violence from the people mentioned above. If they are brave enough to be in public, they will make it known with some sort of asshole patch, asshole tattoo, or doc marten boots with white laces, but I’ve never seen one at a normal punk show.

  • I mean, obviously, mental health issues were at play, but being forcefully evicted most definitely exacerbated, or just straight up caused said mental issues. The guy probably felt as if himself, wife, and dog were better off dead than being homeless. I’m not saying that’s right at all, but we can’t expect people forced into desperate situations to always make rational decisions.

The US is the richest nation on Earth. We should have no reason to ever kick elderly people(or anyone for that matter) out of their homes, and put them into desperate situations, even if they can’t afford rent anymore. Cuba, for instance, has a near zero homeless population, and they have nowhere near the amount of resources the US has. This country lacks empathy.

Housing is a human right and should be treated as such.

  • Even then, I think an average atheist politician would handle Islamic affairs more fairly than an average Muslim politician would handle gender equality affairs, at least in most cases.

There is no atheist book that the atheist has to follow. The Quran, on the other hand, has misogyny kind of built into it, sadly.

Edit: I feel like I should add that this misogyny problem isn’t unique to Islam. The Abrahamic religions all have outdated takes on gender equality. I would have the same negative feelings about a devout Christian politician being put in charge of gender equality.
