10·2 months agoWhy aren’t people moving away from Github?
I write open source software because it’s fun, and I publish on Github because it gives me a stronger professional profile.
So yeah for me it’s the potential difference between putting food on the table or not. Github stars suck for many reasons but they do help you stand out.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•Voyager changed the default instance to lemmy.zipEnglish
8·11 months agoI could see that argument, but I also wanted to pick the best instance for most people, not necessarily an instance that works in every country with every shitty law. We’re all volunteers here.
And I might change in the future, or create a way for the app to chose a fallback default instance for a better user experience.

1·1 year agoWhere did you hear this? Voyager has excellent markdown support with an implementation that closely matches Lemmy-ui.

3·1 year agoOh, thanks. I was checking the login page but I just checked the signup page and there is indeed many missing instances!
Voyager pulls instance data from Lemmy-explorer API, and so there must be an issue right now. I opened a bug: https://github.com/tgxn/lemmy-explorer/issues/225

6·1 year agoHi! I’m the voyager dev. I haven’t heard of any users with the issues you are listing, and I haven’t heard no problem logging into browse as a guest. Also you can explore local communities in the “explore” tab of search. Otherwise it will show top 50 federated communities when logged out for better default user experience.
Also I’m not sure why you didn’t see the post in the community. I’ve never had or heard of issues there.
The gifv image thing is a bug though.
If you have issues in the future, please explain them on !voyagerapp@lemmy.world or GitHub issues, with detail and screenshots if possible. It will help make the app better for everyone, instead of a random comment that I might not see :-)
