I think we have different definitions of “technically true,” but that’s probably true for a lot of terms. Have a good new year’s, if you celebrate.

We currently produce enough food to feed everyone and the international system is capitalist. Does every death from starvation or malnutrition count as a tick against capitalism for you? What about deaths from diabetes in the US? If not, you should look more into how the numbers you’re citing were generated and see if you still want to spread them. If so, you might find that capitalism has killed more than “communism.”
Also, just as a nitpick: 6 million Jews died in the holocaust. 13 million people died altogether (not including war casualties).
I know you feel like we’re on opposite sides here, but I really do just want you to research this a little more, no need to come back afterwards if you don’t want to.

A free market can be implemented in many economic systems.

I’m asserting that capitalism didn’t do that on its own. The USSR is not a good example of communism, no, but it’s certainly not capitalist, and if they hadn’t provided competition at every step of the space race, beating the US out most of the time, the US wouldn’t have gotten to the moon.

Ah, the Space Race. Something that was famously only participated in by capitalist countries.

Yeah, especially because I think it’s funny to translate it as bean water. I’m shooting myself in the foot, but it makes me laugh. She just uses lupin flour though

My sister in law was vegan and everyone ignored it until I joined the family (not my husband, but they aren’t especially close). Everyone is so thoughtful about it with me that I really can’t imagine them being shitty about it with her (though their dad also died shortly before I joined the family, so that might have had an impact). My mother in law does way more vegan baking than I do now, though she can’t quite get behind the idea of aqua faba or maybe she just doesn’t like chickpeas.
You just made me remember the smell of the Christmas decoration boxes we had growing up and now I’m tearing up. It was very slightly musty, newspapery, piney, and they always smelled (and were) cold.
I totally felt sympathy (maybe pity?) for her when she realized what was going on though. For a moment.

Your point stands, but 2019 was more than five years ago

The last one is irrelevant, but the fact that he felt he had to disclose it is fucked
I mean, Leeta’s very into Rom.
Off topic, but koo koo ma just makes me think of this

I used to work in long-tailed litigated liability insurance claims. Think asbestos, lead paint, toxic exposures, etc. Insurance comes into play for defending companies against lawsuits made by people suffering from those exposures. I rationalized it to myself for a year and a half (if we don’t pay for the company’s defense attorneys, we couldn’t pay the claimants their settlements; we’re just following the contract; at this point, the big players are bankrupt, so the claimants are just going after easy targets; etc.), but it makes the world worse and I eventually quit.
I looked at other aspects of the industry, but there really wasn’t a role that I could feel totally comfortable with. At best, I felt like I I worked for the organization which gave earth “adequate notice” for the hyperspace bypass in hitchhikers guide.
I went back to school and now I teach new immigrants the local language. It took a lot of work and I make less money, but holy shit was it worth it.

Because of the storage issues, greens generally have a much longer growing season.
I just mean that you should look up the plants now in case you aren’t able to get the berries regularly. Tomatoes have some vitamin C, but peppers have a whole bunch.

You can get vitamin C from a bunch of plants. Look for commonly foraged greens in your area and chances are you can find something with some vitamin c.
Yeah, I live in Germany now and it’s great. I’m technically working without a renewed contract (which in my contract, means that it auto renews with a COLA increase) due to their oversight, but my raises stack on top of that.
The worker’s rights situation in the US is dismal unless you’re both lucky and in a skilled position, in which case it seems like it’s workable, but only as long as your luck holds. It’s still dismal.

Holy shit.
The body is months old, so it’s not urgent is almost logic. But then you remember that even if it was ten minutes old, it’s not coming back and the ones whose emotions are currently relevant are the family and friends who are probably worried sick about their missing loved one.
I always think of this song in connection with young folks, both very good road trip songs
