Yes, that’s called life, we will never reduce death to zero, we will not even really reduce the total amount, 100% of people on earth now without exception will die and there is nothing whatsoever we can do about it. We can only look at preventing PREMATURE death. If Covid is the infection that finishes off someone who is very elderly and unhealthy already it is not nearly as large of a cause for concern than when an otherwise healthy teenager is killed by a new type of infection. Covid still kills a large number of people, much like flu, and bacterial pneumonia, and heart disease. It is however no longer a major factor in EXCESS deaths, is, causes of deaths that are disproportionately and significantly reducing the average age and health of the human population. Saying, some death is acceptable is an incredibly obvious fact of life when you think about it, it’s pointless and futile to try to prevent all deaths.
Look at this way, “reducing death” does not mean making some people not die, that’s impossible. “Reducing death” means increasing the average age of the population and reducing the likelihood of people dying while they’re young.
Are you fucking kidding me, Jill Stein is your answer? Jill I don’t know how many people are in the House of Representatives and I refuse to call Putin a war criminal Stein?
Tidal, or buy albums and self host if you’re up for it but I feel like that’s not a real option for most.
TWO slaps on the wrist.
Adults already have cheez-its though
33% seems high for “people who are apparently barely ever online”
Yeah, Adobe is the worst.
HDR support and Adobe support… All I really still need…
Yeah, because Microsoft/ZeniMax/Bethesda is such a small corporation and Fallout/The Elder Scrolls is such an inconsequential, low budget franchise.
People have been saying this since Half Life 2, possibly even longer, then everyone said it about Crysis. To be fair, Cryengine has some validity as a future proof engine. It was first made in 2002, just 5 years after Gamebryo and is still being used in heavily modified forms by a large number of studios. But even that is showing its age and is getting heavily refactored yet again for the Open 3D Engine that the Linux foundation is working on. With that said, the amount of active development and intensive refactoring that the Cryengine has gone through at this point eclipses what has been done for the Gamebryo engine. But it still seems like lack of respect for tech debt is the larger problem than “just switch engines”
I mean, if the car needs a cellular subscription.
There is an entire trans community Lemmy instance in case you were unaware. Not saying it makes transphobia here okay or anything, just might be helpful to know.
Holy shit Intuit and GM better shape the fuck up or the workers should just hurry up and fucking do it.
Increasing the average IQ of both countries
Huh, fair enough
I don’t think ConcernedApe does the console and mobile versions, I would assume he got back to Haunted Chocolatier after 1.6 dropped on PC. Pretty sure he licenses the porting process.
They’ve also talked about massively leveraging cloud computing and streaming, it’s likely a lot of actual scenery isn’t part of the offline file size unless you cache the areas for offline play (if that’s even an option)
Remember Trump every time he’s weighed in on something, like suggesting injecting people with bleach, or putting powerful UV lights inside people, or fighting Covid with a “solid flu vaccine” or preventing wildfires by sweeping the forests, or suggesting using nuclear weapons to disrupt hurricane formation, or asking about sharks and electric boat batteries? Remember these? These are the types of people who are in charge of businesses, they only care about money, they are not particularly smart, they have massive gaps in knowledge and experience but believe that they are profoundly brilliant and insightful because they’ve gotten lucky and either are good at a few things or just had an insane amount of help from generational wealth. They have never had anyone, or very few people genuinely able to tell them no and if people don’t take what they say seriously they get fired and replaced with people who will.
It’s a distraction, it’s important to remind people of the value and humanity of immigrants but hatred and anger is a byproduct of people struggling and the only major politicians who aren’t ignoring them or gaslighting them that actually things are going great are the ones telling them immigrants are to blame. The left needs to get much, much better at organizing and the Democrats need to either go left for real or die as a neoliberal but with enough decency to not be preferred by anybody and to not be able to propagandize effectively.
