  • If you’re talking about adjustable rear view mirrors then I think one of the last and only cars to do it was the 90s Mercedes Benz S class. They had it memory linked with steering and seating. It was weird and cool.

Also, if you’re charging your car in a PG&E area you’re technically giving them more money since the gas they provide is natural gas and not petroleum gas. You’d be sticking it to BP or Cheveron (or standard oil if you want to go old school).

  • Tesla was forced to make their NACS charger an actual standard for the US due to some regulations and rules. Anyways, the gen 4 or 5 charger they have coming has a cable extension for this exact reason. Musk and others noted when they opened up to other manufacturers that it would be difficult to use them due to location of chargers. The Rivian owner isn’t a jerk, just someone who was trying to fast charge and the charger wasn’t built for their vehicle.

As for the signage, 100% they should have taken them down 12/31/23 as that’s the last day they stopped being Tesla specific. All late last year and up until March of this year one after another companies have been falling inline to unify around 1 standard. Thank god (engineers and standards organizations).

  • Commercial displays cost more because backlight testing and ratings double or triple. You’re paying more for longer uptime since your display is likely to run 12+ hours a day straight and not for 1-2 hours a day with an occasional 8+ hour usage. You’re also paying actual cost, but a lot of it really has to do with testing and materials that are built to survive consistent and frequent usage, plus centralized management. Lots of people assume it’s the same shit, but it’s completely different and it shows when you buy a consumer off the shelf display and put it in production.
