I guess I don’t really consider AnCaps to be Anarchists because Anarchy is generally leftist philosophy. Traditional anarchy is like small government socialism: empowered local unions and city governments.

tron@midwest.socialto Fediverse@lemmy.world•What is your favorite Fediverse platform?English7·8 months agoI looked thru this blog hopeful that there would be protection against mod abuse. Instead you can get banned for downvoting? I don’t want to be looking over my back because some dipshit mod had a bad take. This is generating way too much analytical data on users. Communities don’t need empowered super mods treating users like numbers on a spreadsheet. Lemmy for sure has problems (ml) but this isn’t the answer.
I agree, the security key thing is a bit of an issue. However this might a bit of a user error as well. The thing to understand is that Encryption keys are not stored on Matrix.org. If they were, then Matrix.org (or whatever homeserver you’re using) would be able to decrypt everything you can decrypt, thus making Matrix pretty useless. The solution is that keys are only stored locally on your devices. Keys are shared to other devices using the Verification process and Emoji matching thing. The problem is most users just go “Whatever!” And ignore the verification process and then have a bad experience because they don’t have Encryption keys.
Would love to see the implementation!
I’m using Maubot in a docker container with the Social Media Download Plugin. Here is a list of all the plugins: https://plugins.mau.bot/
I moved a big group off Discord last year to Matrix chat (Element). It’s been largely pretty alright. 100mb upload limit, we have a bot that downloads tiktoks/Instagram/reddit videos and uploads them to the channel so you never have to visit the sites. Pretty nice! Open source and federated, you guys should give it a try!
AFAIK there is a work around to run MacOS in a VM and run the Mac client which doesn’t have kernel anti cheat, but meh, why bother?

Using this logic why shouldn’t I just download chrome and forget this project exists?
tron@midwest.socialto Technology@lemmy.world•I Will Fucking Piledrive You If You Mention AI Again — LudicityEnglish41·1 year agoOh my god this whole post is amazing, thought I’d share my favorite excerpt:
This entire class of person is, to put it simply, abhorrent to right-thinking people. They’re an embarrassment to people that are actually making advances in the field, a disgrace to people that know how to sensibly use technology to improve the world, and are also a bunch of tedious know-nothing bastards that should be thrown into Thought Leader Jail until they’ve learned their lesson, a prison I’m fundraising for. Every morning, a figure in a dark hood7, whose voice rasps like the etching of a tombstone, spends sixty minutes giving a TedX talk to the jailed managers about how the institution is revolutionizing corporal punishment, and then reveals that the innovation is, as it has been every day, kicking you in the stomach very hard.
Where the fuck do I donate???
tron@midwest.socialto Technology@lemmy.world•Microsoft to test “new features and more” for aging, stubbornly popular Windows 10English3·1 year agoI was a late switcher as I had to wait for gaming support. Once I saw what the steam deck was doing and how amazing proton is, I pulled the trigger. It gets better all the time too, sounds like Nvidia users are finally gonna be getting proper Wayland in like less than a month too! It’s been so smooth I was able to convince my wife to use it too. She LOVES Minecraft and after I showed her Prism Launcher she was sold.

Microsoft can change that with a patch at any time. Suddenly all your personal files are being fed into GPT with no consent.
tron@midwest.socialto Games@sh.itjust.works•Remedy on Alan Wake 2 on steam, "That is also speculation at the moment Alan Wake 2 is available at the Epic Games Store and we hope PC gamers will find it there."English3·1 year agoI’m with you. I have very limited time for games these days, and if it’s not on Steam it might as well not exist. I really could not care less about these corps complaining about Steams cut. You want my money? Come to me!
tron@midwest.socialto TenForward: Where Every Vulcan Knows Your Name@lemmy.world•Could the Federation defeat Star Wars' Empire in an all-out war?81·1 year ago100% Empire. Star Wars ships with hyper drivers are so much faster than Warp Drives. It takes the Millennium Falcon hours or a day to get across the galaxy. It takes Voyager 80+ years. It takes weeks to traverse the Federation alone. If the Empire was completely out classed in combat by Federation technology, and that’s a big if, the Empire would have zero issues just glassing every planet while the Federation would take days to respond.
