Analog vs digital
I’m guessing the “fidelity” in how accurately they copy the food is down to storage space (like, they’d need what is essentially a transporter pattern buffer for each food to copy it perfectly). So replicators are the food equivalent of mp3s at like 192kbps.
Why do you even need to know what the numbers mean in relation to time of day?
For travel, for contacting people for social purposes, for a shared global cultural association
I’m in one of those more northern areas so maybe that’s why I prefer DST. In the summer the sun is up so early and sets so late that it doesn’t matter, but in the winter DST would mean at least some evening light when more people have free time than dark at both ends.
So instead of looking up what time it is somewhere, you’d have to look up their local offset and mentally recalibrate what all the numbers mean in relation to time of day?
I like DST. I just don’t like changing the clocks. Permanent DST would be the ideal imo
The thing last trips me up is the idea that there’s no value added by the employer so it’s all theft. Sure, the value added is definitely less than what the employer keeps, but there is some value added even if it’s only in the sense of an agent getting “buyers” for your labour.
Would’ve liked to see what percentage have none.
I’m still buying CDs to rip and having my music library as MP3s on my phone. No internet connection required, I have total control of the files, and a physical backup if needed.
Yes, it wasn’t until the third panel did I notice the arms of the chair and suddenly the person was bald
The recent AI generated videos are such an accurate portrayal of dreams that there must be some parallels there
These just seem mean and depressing for the sake of being mean and depressing
Anyone notice how the thumbnails for each row are essentially the same, even with their order?
So she was a skater boy sk8er boi?
I’d argue they risk losing users who post links to their videos online. It’s likely the same group who tend to use ad blockers are also the ones more likely to link a video online, so YouTube would miss out on all the non-adblock users clicking links and watching the videos that way.
Now I’m wondering if you could get celery to soak up a drug solution since it’s so watery, then extract the drugs again later
Hunting blinds. Blind baking a pie crust. Blind devotion. Blinded by the light. Cut loose like a deuce, another runner in the night. Wait, what were we talking about again?
Probably why this scam works so well. It’s like how the bad spelling etc in phishing helps to weed out the less susceptible people so they don’t waste their time.
If you’re already falling for the Musk bullshit, then you’re a prime target.
Slightly related:
I’ve heard that on average men and women are essentially the same in intelligence scores, with men doing better in certain aspects and women in others but it’s essentially a wash.
I’ve also heard that the grouping for women is tighter, i.e. there are more dumb men than women. Now, depending on how you calculate the average that raises as interesting question: does this then mean there are more extra smart men to make the overall average the same? Like, if intelligence was a bullseye women would be grouped in the same ring, while men would be spread out over the wider and tighter rings than the women?
So we’re a decade early. WWIII 2029?
