Honestly, it’s GREAT for replying to bull shit business emails.

Music@lemmy.world•Chappell Roan Is Not the Problem. You’re Not Going to Like What Is.English
25·1 year agoHonestly, I think her position is absolutely sane and defensible. She’s going to hold her nose and take out the trash, but she’s not going to be happy about it, and she is not going to campaign for a candidate she has no enthousiasm for - even if she’s planning to vote for her.
That’s not the position of the “both sides bad” people we have here on Lemmy.
This is just basic “undergrad pads word count” strategy.
Look at that!
A few nights in French jail worked wonders.

Technology@lemmy.world•The reason we don’t see exploding battery attacks more often is not because it’s technically hard, it’s because the erosion of public trust in everyday things isn’t worth it.English
213·1 year agoThrow a device from s series into a fire as a spot check and if it burns it’s ok, if it explodes give the entire series to your enemy’s kids to play with.
Most high explosives burn unless detonated properly.
This is really basic stuff. I don’t think you should be out and about giving people advice about handling (potential) explosives.

TenForward: Where Every Vulcan Knows Your Name@lemmy.world•When someone list "Star Trek" as their favorite television show.
61·1 year agoI unironically love the theme song sequence in that show, but I know it’s a point of contention so I figured I’d poke the hornet’s nest a bit.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Ethernet switch only partially workingEnglish
32·1 year agoThat’s highly dependent on the hardware. My router only has two ports.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Ethernet switch only partially workingEnglish
112·1 year agoJust to make sure you know this, routers are not switches. You might get some of them to sort behave like switches with careful configuration, but most of the time it’s asking for a lot of trouble.

121·1 year agoYou have three routers? Why?
Throw 2 of them out and get actual switches.

Programming@programming.dev•The IDEs we had 30 years ago... and we lost
7·1 year agoI used the Borland Turbo Vision based UIs a LOT back in the day. They were very good for their time, but they can’t hold a candle to modern user interfaces.

Programming@programming.dev•I need help getting back into development
1·1 year agoYes!
But I’ve learned that there are A LOT of people that are incredibly pritective of react, so I generally don’t wade out into that particular debate.

Programming@programming.dev•I need help getting back into development
3·1 year agoI like Vue better than react tbh.
My latest project is alpine.js. It’s not bad, it stays out of the way.
That said, I don’t do front end often enough to keep up.

Programming@programming.dev•I need help getting back into development
5·1 year agoAll the cool kids right now are mostly on JavaScript/type script. It’s probably a good place to get started since you’ll need it on the front end.
I’m guessing most work on the U.S. side is react. You can probably pick up a bit of node/react native as you go for the backend and for native dev.
Java is the new COBOL. Big corps luuuuuuuuurve it. It’s not what I would expect a single dev to use. C# is similar but smaller, if you forget unity game dev. And you should forget unity game dev.
Rust is basically a less bad C. If you do things you used to do in C, learn rust. If not, don’t.
Python is also still a thing. If you like it you can probably use it for most things, but if not there are other options.

Because sherry moms would explain at least part of it.

71·1 year agoSometimes things depend on other things.
Your out of hand dismissal of complexity is, frankly, baffling and concerning.
That said, I have lived in suburbia all my life and never have I gone “hmmmm, I really wish I had a golf cart in addition to my car and bicycle”.

Oh yeah. It’s always my mail. Not ChatGPT’s mail.
It just helps me pump up the word count to a point where the suits think it’s acceptable.
I prompt it with two sentences and I get two full paragraphs.
