That’s also an issue, I have a Roman foot shape, which is less common. The worst part is, when shopping for shoes, lots of sales people will go out back to check for sizes, and come back with a size 46. “Yes, but these tend be larger size.” I know, my feet have the same tendency.

I know this is a joke, but this actually pisses me off. I have a shoe size 47 (EU), and Adidas goes up to 48 and 2/3 most of the time. Only problem is these shoes are still too small for my feet.

My actual opnion is that they don’t want to think if they should, because they know the answer. The pressure to go public with a shitty model outweighs the responsibility to the people relying on the search results.

LLM’s may not have any intent, but companies do. In this case, Google decides to present the AI answer on top of the regular search answers, knowing that AI can make stuff up. MAybe the AI isn’t lying, but Google definitely is. Even with the “everything is experimental, learn more” line, because they’d just give the information if they’d really want you to learn more, instead of making you have to click again for it.

In the past sz was also used, but it’s not allowed in modern spelling. The ß was (is?) used for both ss and sz, to the point where nobody knew anymore which it was originally.

Duolingo is not so much about teaching, but more about (here it comes again) building engagement with the users. It didn’t start out like this, but somewhere the MBA’s probably took over.

For me all the things you said about GIMP, but my biggest issue is how layers work in it. It is totally unintuitive to me. Last week I tried to edit some simple image in GIMP, basically pasting some small objects and touching them up. I couldn’t get it to work properly, and would probably have redone it in Photoshop if it was to be used by more than three people for a short period.

It will be technically a bit more challenging, but I don’t think you need to use the lantern power monitor software with the device. The device seems to be built around two MCP3008 IC’s, which are basic 8 channel analog to digital converters. The values from these can be read and processed (like, sent to home assistant) using a python script on the raspberry. This is the kind of minimal programming effort someone with no experience could do using chatgpt.
