I think Fortnite poisoned the market because of its live service success. Instead of making most of the money at launch they can now bleed whales dry by introducing a battle pass + skins + DLC.
All they see is numbers. Destiny 2 makes HOW MUCH money? Let’s do that

I haven’t even watched 20 minutes about it and already know about as much as I want to know about it.
I mean, what else are they gonna say? “We’re totally gonna waste your time AND milk you for as much of your money as possible!”

I’m getting the vibe that it’s been developed with full knowledge that it’s going to be a commercial flop, and they’re just hoping to at least not lose money. Feels like the developer had a contract to make a live service game w/ the IP so they’re just chugging it out. Obviously not sure though.
