Happy early Halloween for those who celebrate it! 👻 I’m back again to share some updates on Thunder’s ongoing development for those who might not be keeping tabs on our progress in the Matrix space or GitHub.

As mentioned in the previous update post, our primary focus for the next update is to add support for Lemmy 0.19.x and enhance the overall performance and stability of the app.

We have gotten a lot of work done in the past few weeks as we ramp up for the next Lemmy update. The next Thunder nightly build will have basic support for Lemmy 0.19.x instances and other new features. Here’s a brief summary of the main features we will be releasing in the next Thunder nightly build coming to GitHub and TestFlight sometime next week:

  • Support for Lemmy 0.19.x instances. You should be able to log in and perform all basic interactions on 0.19.x instances.
  • Support for blocking instances. Note that this feature is only enabled for 0.19.x instances as it relies on the lemmy API changes introduced in 0.19.x.
  • Adding support for opening links in Thunder on Android.
  • Adding support for creating posts in Thunder from the share sheet on Android.
  • Addition of new sort types for Lemmy 0.19.x instances. (scaled/controversial)
  • Adding more options to search page (communities, users) with more to come.
  • Addition of more localization languages (Ukrainian, Spanish, Finnish, Swedish, Norwegian) provided by the community!
  • And much more as described in the changelog!

For those who are on the App Store/Play Store versions of Thunder, these features and updates will eventually come your way! We are mainly waiting for the official release of Lemmy 0.19.x in order to perform some final tests and checks to make sure everything runs as smoothly as possible.

A huge thanks again to everyone who has been actively contributing, and as always, we are constantly looking for more contributors to the project! Thank you for all the community members for contributing translations. If you would like to help contribute, feel free to reach out on our Matrix space or on GitHub.
