Im asking because I’ve been thinking about buying a headset but keep seeing that the Quest 3 is a much better experience than the Quest 2, even at a higher price. So is the 3 actually that much better that, even with a price of 550 Euros, it’s worth it?

Never tried VR so can’t compare it.

I guess if you don’t mind it becoming e-waste in a few years like the Q1 is near to being. You are practically at the mercy of Meta deciding what you can do with the device. There are some projects like ALVR to mitigate this somewhat, but these platforms are being locked down in more sophisticated ways with each generation.

I had a 2 now I have a 3 and the difference is massive. The standalone stuff is as good as my PC is for PCVR; actually a bit better. And my PC was purpose built for mid-range VR gaming. I can’t even stand to play VRchat on PC now because it looks and runs like ass compared to the standalone Quest version on the 3. Hella makes me want to upgrade the PC.

Not to mention the comfort features, the weight difference, and more. It is definitely worth the extra $200 from a Q2.

Color pass through on the 3 is great for Mixed Reality games and experiences too, the 2s black and white pass through is much lower resolution and the stitching is not as good.
