I still care about them, but it’s less.
I think that’s natural. The point of the tweet is probably to just allude to the fact that many people don’t see other animals as living beings that can suffer and feel pain just like any other living being. By comparing them to pets, they’re put closer in comparison to pets, thus maybe leading to more compassion towards them. Spitballing
I’m in a similar boat of caring about chickens less than my pet dog. That said I don’t want the animals we farm to suffer. My opinion on that isn’t enough to move me away from eating meat, but rather I look for tasty vegetarian and vegan meals to add to my rotation (abstinence of meat isn’t my ideal, but reducing my meat consumption is).
