  • This is why it would be hard for me to make a fruit tier list. I think you need to have 2 lists, a list for each fruit at mid and a list for each fruit at its best. For example, I tend to eat apples, strawberries, or grapefruits pretty regularly even when they are not at their best because I still enjoy them at mid so in my mind they would be top of the mid list. But something like a peach or a pineapple will be at the top of the other list even though I probably won’t eat them at mid. I have a simple rule for peaches which is if I am in the store and I can smell them, I have to buy them. Works every time and I get damn good peaches that way. I’ve always wanted to try a fresh peach off a tree and I imagine it’s like fruit heroin.

  • There used to be a chain restaurant near my workplace called Zoup. We all loved it! We would look at the menu for the week on Monday and if one of our favorite soups came up, we would all go grab some soup and bread for lunch one day. You could also taste all the soups before getting one. It was the best! But it sadly died during COVID lockdowns. RIP Zoup.

  • Can confirm. My parents got 2 apple trees when I was a kid. One of them just kept trying as hard as it could to lean to one side. They had to put lots of steaks and straps on it to correct it for many years. That same tree then started growing apple flowers much earlier than it should and it would have so many apples that the branches would break under the weight. So my parents had to pick as many flowers as they could off the tree each year until it was a healthy size. Skip to today and it’s a pretty healthy tree, but much smaller than the other tree that didn’t try to do stupid shit to itself. Except this year, my parents had to pick all the apples early before they were ready because the branches started cracking and splitting. They tried to give it lots of extra water and strap the branches back together that they caught in time, but it still lost some for good. This tree just doesn’t want to tree.

  • My childhood dog was a rescue that was originally a stray dog. This dog would catch flies right out of the air! It didn’t take long for us to discover that he was so fast, nothing ever touched the ground. I once lost a whole waffle to him when it slipped off my plate and went seemingly direct into his mouth.

It’s hard to tell from this photo but to me it just looks like your basil is flowering and a bunch of flower bits made a mess on the leaves. I usually try to pinch off the flowers as soon as I see them to keep the basil leaves going. I don’t see any holes in the leaves or yellow/brown spots so I don’t think it’s a pest. But again it’s hard to tell from this photo.

Edit: Just saw the tumbler photos and the first one makes it look more like a pest is present. But again, I don’t see any indication that they’re eating the leaves. Doesn’t hurt to try the dish soap spray in case it’s aphids.
