    I believe it comes from an old joke trend from years ago on reddit when people were naming their subs ____ people _____. “White People Twitter”, “Old People Facebook”, “Young People YouTube”

    This was one of the few that stuck around, but it ultimately evolved to just a place for Twitter posts (beyond the joke title, people didn’t truly want it to seem race exclusive, because that would be weird)

      I think r/BlackPeopleTwitter was created first. Then r/WhitePeopleTwitter was created as a parody, but then kind of became a catch all for tweets in general.

          I don’t even know if it’s a specific type of humor. Literally the top few posts are just tweets but black people, but not related to race at all. A few examples:
